Before You Begin
Disconnect the Battery
Never install a controller with the battery connected.
- Remove the battery cover.
- Remove the key plate.
- Turn off the breaker (if equipped).
- Disconnect and remove the battery.
Some newer E-Ride Pro 3.0 models do not include a breaker. This is normal.
Remove Exterior Components
To access the controller you'll need to remove:
- Front fender
- Skid plate/bash guard
- Stock display
- Stock switch assembly
- Left grip
- Factory controller
Keep all factory hardware organized as many of the bolts will be reused.
Install the New Handlebar Controls
Install the supplied components in this order:
- Handlebar switch panel
- Thumb regenerative brake
- Grip
- Display
Do not fully tighten the switch panel until everything has been positioned comfortably.
The thumb regen lever should sit directly next to the grip where it can easily be reached with your thumb.
Install the Display
Assemble the display mount using:
- Rubber vibration dampers
- Handlebar clamps
- Correct spacers for your handlebar diameter
Before tightening:
- Center the display
- Make sure it is level
- Verify visibility while riding
Connect:
- Display → Button cable
- Display → Controller cable
Leave final cable management until installation is complete.
Remove the Factory Controller
Remove:
- Controller mounting bolts
- Brake line bracket
- Battery tray bolts
The battery tray can then pivot forward, giving enough room to disconnect:
- Main controller connector
- Motor sensor connector
- Phase wires
- Battery positive
- Battery negative
Set the factory controller aside.
Install the Aetos Wiring Harness
Install the supplied bike-specific harness.
Connect:
- Main vehicle connector
- Dashboard connector
- Regen brake connector
- Motor sensor connector
The horn connector is not used on the E-Ride Pro.
Route the harness neatly upward toward the controller location.
Install the Phase Wires
Install:
- U
- V
- W
Unlike many stock controllers, the three motor phase wires do not have to match a specific order.
If the motor spins backwards after calibration, simply reverse the motor direction inside the VTB App during setup.
Important
Only the phase wires are interchangeable.
Never mix up the battery positive and battery negative cables.
Connect Battery Power
Connect:
- Battery Positive (B+)
- Battery Negative (B-)
Double-check polarity before tightening.
Incorrect battery polarity can permanently damage the controller.
Slide the protective boots over each connection after tightening.
Mount the Controller
Position the controller into the factory mounting location.
Install:
- Lower mounting bolts
- Upper mounting bolts
Before fully tightening:
- Ensure no wires are pinched
- Verify motor wiring stays inside the mounting bracket
- Verify battery cables are routed safely
Some E-Ride Pro models may not allow the controller to sit completely flush due to its larger size. This is normal provided nothing is being pinched.
Cable Management
This is the most time-consuming portion of the installation.
Use zip ties to:
- Secure the display wiring
- Secure the harness
- Prevent rubbing
- Keep connectors away from steering movement
Turn the handlebars fully left and right to verify nothing becomes tight or stretched.
Reinstall the Bike
Reinstall:
- Key plate
- Battery
- Battery cover
- Front fender
- Skid plate
Some aftermarket skid plates may not clear the larger Aetos controller.
The stock skid plate generally provides the best fit.
Initial Startup
Turn the bike on.
The display should boot and prompt for:
- Language
- Battery configuration
If the controller powers on successfully, proceed to controller setup inside the VTB App.
VTB App Setup
Before riding, update the controller firmware.
Firmware Update
Inside the VTB App:
Firmware Upgrade → Controller → Update
During the update:
- Keep your phone close to the controller.
- Do not close the app.
- Do not answer phone calls.
- Allow the update to complete without interruption.
If the update fails:
- Close the app.
- Turn the bike off.
- Restart the bike.
- Retry the update.
Controller Setup Wizard
Open:
Parameter Settings → Advanced Settings → Controller Setup Guidance
Complete the following:
Select Bike
Choose your exact model.
Example:
- E-Ride Pro 3.0
Select Battery
Choose the correct battery profile.
Example:
- Stock 72V 20S battery
Select Motor
Choose the correct motor profile.
Example:
- Stock E-Ride Pro Motor
Perform Motor Calibration
Raise the rear wheel off the ground.
Run:
Motor Calibration
The rear wheel should rotate forward.
If it rotates backward:
- Select Counterclockwise
- Run calibration again
Save the calibration.
Speed Setup
Input:
- Rear sprocket size
- Wheel radius
Wheel radius equals half of the tire's overall mounted diameter.
Accurate values improve speedometer accuracy.
Calibrate the Throttle
Run the throttle calibration.
When prompted:
- Twist to full throttle.
- Hold for one second.
- Release completely.
You can then choose:
- Standard Gap
- Small Gap
Most riders prefer the Small Gap for a more responsive throttle.
Calibrate the Regen Lever
Pull the thumb regen lever fully.
Hold for one second.
Release.
Save.
Lean Angle Calibration
Hold the motorcycle perfectly upright.
Run the angle calibration.
This allows features such as Wheelie Mode to function correctly.
Select a Riding Profile
Choose your preferred riding style.
Examples include:
- Road Racing
- Off-Road
- Stunting
These can be changed later.
Load the Official Tune Library
Run:
Auto Match Official Mode Library
The controller automatically loads multiple preconfigured ride modes, including:
- EasyGo
- Eco
- Sport
- Race
- Boost
- Crawl
- Strong Eco
- Max Torque
- Additional specialty modes
These modes can be customized later within the VTB App.
